It is the responsibility of each competitor to ensure that he/she has read and complied with the
Terms of Competition of this event.
1. GENERAL
a. The National Ranking Games (NRG) for 2025 are organized for SGA National, Junior National, Development, Junior Development and Holding Squad members and selected players. It is a counting event for the SGA NRG Order of Merit and the R&A World Amateur Golf Ranking. It shall be played according to the Rules of Golf as approved by the R&A Rules Ltd and the Local Rules approved by the Organising Committee.
Event Schedule:
10 May - The bus will leave Sembawang Country Club strictly at 4:45 AM
10 May (7:30 AM Onwards) - Round 1 (18H)
10 May (1 PM Onwards) - Round 2 (18H)
11 May (7:30 AM Onwards) - Final Round (18H)
11 May (3:00 PM Onwards) - Bus departure from Els Club
2. ELIGIBILITY
a. The NRG is open to SGA National, Junior National, Development, Junior Development and Holding Squad members and players approved by the SGA Training and Development Sub-Committee.
b. All participants are to register online at www.sga.org.sg
All entries will be subject to review by the SGA Training & Development Committee.
c. Entries are open to male and female amateurs who are 12 years old and above as at 1 Jan 2025.
d. All participants must have a valid Handicap Index (as of 1 April 2025). Handicap classifications are as follows:
- SGA Squad Players - No handicap restriction
- Non-SGA Squad Players - Male: 6.0 and below, Female: 10.0 and below
The Handicap Index scoring records must not have any penalty scores.
e. The SGA Training and Development Sub-Committee reserves the right to accept and finalize the number of participants to play in the NRG.
3. FORMAT
a. The NRG shall be played over three rounds of 18 holes each and based on stroke play. Men will use blue/white tees, while ladies will use red tees.
b. Round 1 and round 2 will be played on 10 May morning and afternoon respectively. Round 3 will be played on 11 May morning.
c. The player with the lowest gross aggregate for the three rounds will be the winner. All ties will be decided by the countback system stated in Paragraph 9.
4. SIZE OF FIELD
a. The field will be limited to a maximum of 40 participants. Entries will be selected from all applicants with the lowest Handicap Index within each division.
b. Priority will be given to SGA Squad Players.
c. The allocation of entries to the various divisions and genders will be determined by the OC and is final.
d. The OC reserves the right to refuse any entry without assigning any reason for such refusal. The decisions of the OC as to the acceptance or refusal of any entry shall be final.
5. ENTRY FEE
a. The entry fee is S$275 nett for SGA Squad Players and S$550 nett for non-SGA Squad Players and foreigners. Entry fees are inclusive of:
- Land Transportation from Singapore to Desaru, Malaysia (vice versa)
- 4:45 AM Departure from Sembawang Country Club on 10 May 2025
- Departure back to Singapore on 11 May upon completion of tournament
- Transportation from Hotel to Golf Course (vice versa)
- 2D & 1N Hotel Accommodation with Breakfast
- 2 Lunch & 1 Dinner
- Green and Buggy Fees
- Driving Range Balls
6. PAYMENT
a) Participants must make their payment via debit/credit card. The amount will be charged to the cards only when the player gets promoted to the confirmed roster.
b) Entries must be submitted using the official online entry form from SGA’s website.
c) Participants are advised to check the SGA website for confirmation of participation.
d) Only entries with payment instructions will be processed.
e) The OC reserves the right to limit, accept, or reject entries.
f) There will be no refund of the entry fee after the registration's closing date.
7. WITHDRAWAL POLICY
a) There is no penalty if a player withdraws on or before Sunday, April 27, 2025 at 12:00 PM. Should a player withdraw after the deadline, the entry fee will be forfeited.
8. DRAW
a. The draw for the rounds will be determined by the Organising Committee.
b. No further request shall be entertained after the draw list has been released.
9. STARTING TIMES
a. Players should report to the starter at least 10 minutes before their starting times.
10. SUBMISSION OF SCORECARD
a. Players should check their scorecards and ensure that they are correct and signed. A player is considered to have returned his scorecard when he has handed it to the SGA Officials, and no further amendments may be made.
11. DECISION OF TIES
a. All ties will be decided on the lowest score for the last 18 holes (or the last 9 or 6 or 3 or 18th hole). If a tie still arises, the scores for the 2nd round and, if necessary, the 1st round will be treated in the same way until a decision is reached.
12. SUSPENSION OF PLAY FOR DANGEROUS SITUATION (Note to Rule 5.7b)
a. When play is suspended for a dangerous situation, players must discontinue play immediately and not resume play until an order to resume play is given. If a player fails to discontinue play immediately, he is disqualified unless circumstances warrant waiving the penalty as provided in Rule 5.7b.
13. INCLEMENT WEATHER
a. In the event of inclement weather, the Organising Committee reserves the right to cancel any round(s).
14. CADDIES / BUGGIES / MOTORISED TROLLEYS/ SPECTATORS
a) All players must use buggies for this tournament.
b) All players are not to carry their bags or use their hand-drawn trolleys.
c) No spectators will be allowed.
15. DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICE
a. A player may obtain distance information by use of a distance-measuring device. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., elevation changes, wind speed, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 4-3.
16. PACE OF PLAY
a. All flights are expected to adhere to the Pace of Play.
b. All players are encouraged to adopt Ready Golf play.
17. DISPUTES OR DOUBTS AS TO THE CORRECT PROCEDURE
a. If there is a doubt as to the correct procedures, players are to refer to SGA representatives. If the SGA representative is not immediately available, a player (having notified his marker) may elect to play two balls and obtain a ruling at the conclusion of the round prior to signing and the return of the scorecard.
b. No spectators (parents or otherwise) are to enter into any discussion on a matter under dispute.
18. SGA REPRESENTATIVE
a. The SGA Representative’s decision on all matters pertaining to the Rules of Golf is final.
19. LIST OF CONFORMING GOLF BALLS
a. The specimen Condition in the Rules of Golf is in effect – see Appendix I pages 155 to 156.
20. LIST OF CONFORMING DRIVER HEADS
a. The specimen Condition in the Rules of Golf is in effect. Please see Appendix I, pages 154 – 155, and visit the R&A website at www.randa.org for a list of conforming driver heads.
21. GROOVE & PUNCH MARK SPECIFICATIONS
a. The player’s clubs must conform to the groove and punch mark specifications in the Rules of Golf that are effective from 1 January 2010.
b. Decision 4-1/1 in the “Decisions on the Rules of Golf” is in effect – see page 70.
22. CONDUCT OF PLAYERS
a. All SGA Squad members are subject to the SGA Code of Conduct.
b. All players should conduct themselves in a disciplined manner, demonstrating courtesy and sportsmanship at all times, irrespective of how competitive they may be.
c. Any action contrary to the spirit of the game, such as abusive language, throwing of clubs, or other disruptive behavior, will not be tolerated and may result in a player not being able to continue in this competition.
d. The use of mobile phones (except in an emergency) and smoking are not allowed on the course.
e. Failure to comply with the above will result in disqualification under the penalty for breach of Rule 1.2b.
23. INSURANCE
a. All players are required to have appropriate golfing insurance.
24. POINTS
a. Points will be allocated according to the R & A World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) System and SGA Order of Merit.
25. AMENDMENTS TO CONDITIONS
a. The Organising Committee reserves the right to amend these conditions.
